Walsall Council have a vacancy for a Permit Scheme Coordinator - based in Walsall & Blended Working Arrangements.
You will play a key role in the activities of the NRSWA team during a period of significant transformation and regeneration of the borough.
The main purpose of the job will be to support the specialist nature of the permit team to manage a range of work on the highway network. The role will place particular emphasis on:
- To support the delivery of the council's statutory coordination & network management duty by assessing, determining, processing and enforcing permit applications.
- To identify, manage and enforce performance-based inspections to be to be undertaken by the council.
- To coordinate, instruct, monitor and enforce when and how roadwork can take place on the public highway.
- To identify overrun of works on the public highway and enforce compliance with agreed timescales and associated Section 74 charges.
- To identify and record any defective works and enforce any associated remedial works and defect charges.
- To monitor compliance with stop - start notification requirements and enforce any associated fixed penalty charges.
- To issue and enforce fixed penalty notices for non-compliance with permit conditions.
- The assessment of Section 50 licence applications and processing of associated cost recovery
This is a specialist technical role that requires a high degree of interaction with colleagues, the general public, local businesses, councillors, utility companies and Transport for the West Midlands.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate relevant experience and a thorough understanding of NRSWA and temporary traffic management together with the associated legislation.
